Who we are…

Schnauzer Love Rescue, Inc. (SLR), is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization operating in the seven southeastern states that is dedicated to the perpetual commitment of saving the lives of Miniature Schnauzers who have lost their homes through no fault of their own.  Our organization is able to do this work entirely because of the money we receive through  fundraising activities throughout the year and the generous donations of our supporters.

SLR does not operate any shelters.  Our dogs reside in loving foster homes until they are ready to be adopted by new families with perfect forever homes.  Most of the dogs that come to us are from owners who cannot care for them any longer and are generally healthy.  Others that come to us from shelters, the streets, or puppy mills often require extra care and may even need extra time and care to recover from parasites, illnesses, or injuries.  In many cases the dogs we take in have not felt the security of a loving home in their recent past and also require extra time to be socialized.  
 
Regardless of how our dogs come to us, we ensure they get placed in a safe foster home, get vaccinated, get spayed or neutered, are allowed to regain their health, and are socialized so that they can be adopted into safe, loving, and secure forever homes. Since 2003, Schnauzer Love Rescue, Inc. has orchestrated over 8,000 adoptions.

SLR requires that an adoption application, a vet check, a phone interview, and a home visit be accomplished prior to adoption.  Our adoption fees generally range from between $275 to $500 for each of our dogs based on their age.

What we do…

Each month Schnauzer Love Rescue, Inc. (SLR) takes in over a dozen dogs that are in need of forever homes. They come to us from owners who can no longer care for them, as strays, or directly from various animal shelters. Each rescue is then evaluated and fully vetted.

Many are in need of medical support such as spay/neuter, heartworm treatment or dental surgery all of which are costly, and all of which are necessary. We also have dogs that require perpetual care and are never able to be adopted and become “forever fosters”.

The costs for these dogs are considerable. Please consider donating to help SLR defray our considerable medical and operating costs.
